The First Home Owner Grant (FHOG) scheme was introduced on 1st July 2000. It is a national scheme funded by the states and territories and is payable to first home owners that satisfy eligibility criteria. Each state in Australia have their own First home buyers incentive program. This FHOG benefit is per transaction allthough the house is on two or more applicants.
In Victoria first home buyers are entitle to 10K grant on a newly constructed home. You will be eligible only one the value of the property is less than $750,000.00. Victorians buying their first home are entitled to reduce stamp duty zero when the value of the property is less than $600,000.00, Whether your house is new or established. First home buyers won't receive the grant in cash but it will goes in to the pot of money on settlement day. This will reduce the amount of cash that you need to pay to purchase the house. The benefited applicant must oocupy the home with in 12 months of settlement date or construction completed date. At least one applicant must occupy the home as your principal place of residence for a continuous period of at least 6 months.
